In general terms, to apply makeup and achieve a good-looking effect does not require having too many products, but knowing how to choose those basic products that alone can make a difference. In this category, we definitely include the dark circle concealer, because it is one of those transformative products that can hide a bad night and make your look completely different.
Although the problem often comes from not knowing how to use concealer correctly or not choosing the right shades. Makeup artist Leire Erdocian insists precisely on the importance of using the concealer that our skin really needs. Through her social networks, the expert shares two tricks that can completely change the way we apply this product and achieve a much brighter and more natural look.
“Never use a concealer that is much lighter than your skin tone. Applying this to the area under your eyes will never cover up the darkness,” the expert begins by saying. Many women make the mistake of thinking that the lighter the concealer, the better they will be able to camouflage the darkness of dark circles. However, the only thing that is achieved is the opposite effect.
“Think that if you have a very dark circle under your eyes and you try to cover it with a very white concealer, what will happen is that your dark circle will look gray,” says Leire. This happens because white will never be able to neutralize that darkness, therefore the real tone of the dark circles will continue to be seen, “I would even say that it will look worse on you,” the makeup artist insists.
The second trick that Leire gives us to make the dark circles look more covered and smooth has to do with the way to blend the concealer. “Instead of dragging the product with the brush, what we are going to do is apply it in touches. This seems very simple and very logical but I promise you that the majority of my clients do it wrong,” adds the expert. By doing it this way we move the product a lot instead of leaving it deposited, “which is why many times you still see the dark circles exactly the same as before applying it,” says Erdociain.
And to further enhance the coverage of a concealer that you really like, the makeup artist shares an extra trick. “You just have to apply it in the dark circles right where you are darkest. When a few minutes have passed and the concealer has gained more consistency, we take the brush and dab it without moving much from the spot, staying in the dark area,” recommends the professional. In this way we concentrate the pigment where dark circles need it most and without the need to use a large amount of product.
