Many women with dark hair, as time goes by, look for a change towards lighter tones, to achieve brighter hair that does not harden their features as much. Blonde is undoubtedly the favorite color of the majority and to achieve it, especially if we start with dark hair, we must put ourselves in the hands of professionals to obtain the best results.
According to expert Kenzo Yonekura from the Teatro Hair & Care hair salon in Madrid. “Going from a dark base to a blonde is not a race, it is a building process.” Come on, it's possible, but you have to be patient and follow the appropriate steps so that your hair doesn't get damaged and of course, get the desired blonde.
It is true that blonde does not go out of fashion but there are usually shades of blonde that are more popular than others depending on the time of year. In addition, it is a hair color that has a lot of variety and more and more new shades are appearing, from creamy vanilla, through elegant ash blonde, cashmere blonde or honey blonde to dark bronde blonde.

One of the big concerns when going from dark hair to blonde is that the hair will suffer a lot. So that the health of the hair is not compromised, Kenzo comments that “by working in sessions, you avoid the use of aggressive chemicals for long periods of time, protecting the hair fiber and preventing breakage.”
The best way is to go for a natural transition, this way we will give the hair time to recover. “Starting with honey or caramel tones allows the face to brighten without drastic contrast, achieving the “illuminated brunette” effect that will progressively turn into blonde,” adds Yonekura.

But to get a beautiful blonde tone in your hair, you not only have to go for a comprehensive dye, but you can also opt for the 2026 trend highlights, which are perfect for providing multi-tonality to the hair and three-dimensionality. In this sense “the wick technique (as balayage either babylights) creates dimension and depth, preventing color from looking flat or artificial. I always look for naturalness,” says the expert.
Furthermore, if light blondes are characterized by something, it is because they quickly reflect the root effect, and this means that they require more maintenance. However, “a gradual change allows the client to get used to their new image and the root growth is much more discreet,” adds Kenzo.
