Zara signs five trendy mini dresses this fall 2026 that those who know the most about fashion will wear with pants

Posted on 8 September 2026

I'm sorry to contradict Amaral and the stores, which seem determined to release the coats: there are still days of summer. This doesn't mean I'm too lazy to buy something that I can't use when the temperatures drop. Luckily (or unfortunately for my pocket), Zara has everything and they have launched a selection of divine short dresses that are pure trend to wear with sandals in September and reuse in autumn by combining them with a pair of ankle boots.

Draped designs, with Y2K or minimalist aesthetics, among others, that stand out for how versatile they are. It is worth investing in all of them because with a change of accessories or a couple of extra layers – even with pants pointing to the trend of the layering– can be very useful even in the middle of winter.

Five Zara dresses to wear with ankle boots

Zara

The first of our favorites is this super trendy olive green for several reasons: the draped design, the train-effect bow and the color. A perfect combo that goes perfectly with asymmetrical ankle boots with thin heels and that we can also combine with wide leg pants, for 35.95 euros.

The minimalism of the 90s added to the color of the early 00s, cerulean blue, results in a super elegant design that we can combine with a blazer when it gets colder for 29.95 euros. On the feet, lead blue crocodile-effect ankle boots like Alma en Pena's are the ideal choice.

The oriental aesthetic is still present this fall and this dress integrates it in a subtle way so as not to lose the elegance of minimalism. It is a short black dress – a little black dress book- with flare sleeves that goes perfectly with a black sock-type boot, for 35.95 euros.

Leather dresses are trending again this fall and this one from Zara couldn't be prettier. Its mustard-colored leather, front cargo pockets and zipper closure will be key this 2026 for 89.95 euros. To combine a jewel like this, black cowboy ankle boots with silver stars from a luxury brand -aka Zadig & Voltaire- are the ideal choice.

Zara Cargo Dress

The cargo aesthetic will be recurring this fall 2026 and although we are used to seeing it in pants, it also works in dresses. For example, this khaki mini shirt dress that we found at Zara for 39.95 euros. A perfect excuse to rescue the wrinkled-effect ankle boots that were so popular in the 10s.
