As we get older, we become more aware that it is more worthwhile to opt for a minimalist but effective routine instead of a routine full of products without much meaning. When you are approaching 50, it is no longer enough to just use moisturizing creams, here you have to choose really effective products, those that are capable of truly transforming the skin.
In this sense, the pharmacist Regina Pallás is clear that her two anti-aging fetish products would be: eye contour and daily sun protection. In this way we prevent, treat and protect, and in the long term the skin will notice the difference.
The eye contour is a basic product
If there is an area of the face that is not long in coming when it comes to aging, it is the area around the eyes. It is very delicate and loses density faster than other parts and this is noticeable in wrinkles, dark circles or sagging. Therefore, choosing an eye contour with active ingredients capable of treating all these problems in a real way will be the key.
“Actives such as Scutellaria baicalensis extract with a firming effect, and some tightening biopolymer that provides an immediate lifting effect and visibly improves wrinkles in the periocular area,” explains Pallás.
We can also look at other interesting ingredients with an antiaging effect. Peptides are perfect for stimulating collagen synthesis; hyaluronic acid is perfect for deeply hydrating the area and softening wrinkles; retinol improves skin elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles; Caffeine is ideal for improving microcirculation and reducing puffiness.
Daily sun protection, the best ally
Every time someone asks an expert what the best anti-aging product is, everyone answers sunscreen. Recommending using sunscreen daily, even at an early age, is to protect the skin from all sun damage and prevent premature aging. A gesture that will make a big difference as you age, something that will be noticeable in fewer spots, less sagging, and fewer wrinkles.

Hence the pharmacist insists that “it is also very important not to forget sun protection,” says Regina. And there is no other way to reach 60 with the best appearance and health of your skin. The healthy effect will be very noticeable and you will have better tone and luminosity than those who have not protected themselves.
From the age of 60, it is advisable to opt for broad-spectrum sunscreens (UVA + UVB + infrared + blue light) and with a minimum SPF of 30, ideally 50. Although the best thing in this sense is that the new generations of sunscreens rely on very light formulas, which do not feel on the skin and there are options for all skin types and needs. Gone are the heavy, uncomfortable sun creams that filled you with shine.
What's more, there is so much variety that we can find formulas loaded with antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E, soothing ingredients, with niacinamide being one of the most interesting ingredients, or ultra-hydrating ingredients with hyaluronic acid. In addition, they can also be colored for an immediate good-looking effect.
But in addition to these two products that the expert considers top, there are also others that can complement an effective routine at 65. “My makeup bag would also include a cream or serum with epigenetic active ingredients. These types of active ingredients not only slow down aging, but can reverse some of its visible signs, improving the quality and vitality of the skin. At this stage, it is also essential to provide extra nutrition, since the skin becomes drier and loses comfort,” declares Regina.
