It looks like a Canadian landscape, but it is the Spanish glacial lake that was trapped between mountains

One of the most famous lakes in the world is Moraine Lake, located in Banff National Park in Canada. Its water is a very intense turquoise blue, due to the erosion of the glaciers. On sunny days, it acts like a mirror, reflecting the mountain range of rocky peaks over 3000 meters and the pine forests that surround it. It is quite a vision and Spain has an almost identical version of this landscape.

The Canadian postcard of this lake is magical and a destination must for any nature lover. But flying there is very expensive and requires a lot of time, which we don't always have.

However, we have found a corner that offers the same spectacularity without leaving Spain. It is Ibón de Plan and it is in Huesca, although all your Instagram followers will believe that you are in the country of hockey and maple syrup.

Ibón de Plan is a true paradise hidden in the Cotiella massif, between thick pine forests, steep mountains and flower meadows. This glacial lake in the Aragonese Pyrenees is one of the most beautiful places in Huesca, with the same layout and water as turquoise as Lake Moriane in Canada. But better, because we can get there by car.

To visit it you have to leave from the Lavasar refuge, following the marked GR15 path through fields and forests. There is not much elevation gain and it takes an hour, so it is an easy and beautiful walk that culminates in this beautiful lake, a beautiful plan to welcome spring as it deserves.
