It is very expensive, but it is worth every euro it costs: this is the only beauty gadget that I still use after 5 years

Posted on 25 October 2026

Since I was little, my mother instilled in me the importance of taking care of my skin. First with sunscreen, later, with a routine appropriate for my age and my skin type. For that reason and because for some years I worked in a specialized beauty center (at the reception, but I had to know the treatments inside out), techno-beauty is something that attracts me a lot.

I have tried several gadgetbut since I'm a little lazy I've thrown in the towel with some. For example, the Foreo Luna, that facial cleansing device that everyone recommended. youtubers years ago. I liked it, but I barely used it. As soon as the first charge was finished, it was forgotten.

I also tried radiofrequency at home, but the almost hour-long sessions, the sticky conductive gel that even ended up in my hair, and an uncomfortable wired device ended up putting me off.

But there is a device that I have been using since 2021 and that I have never abandoned. It is always on hand on my bathroom shelf and I use it so often that I live in fear that it will die due to exhaustion: it is none other than the Foreo UFO. In my case, the first generation (they are already on their third and the price is almost the same).

UFO forum in depth: everything you need to know

I have always liked masks. I have used all types of them: the typical paper ones that keep you immobilized for 20 minutes, the cream effect ones and even the clay effect ones that left your face stiff for a long time. A friend older than me with very good skin recommended that I use them once a week and the truth is that it took me little time to adapt to that routine. I have applied them every Sunday (or almost) for years because they don't limit me from doing other things while I get the treatment.

The bad thing is that when I have an event or an important appointment and I want to prepare my skin, waiting for the mask to take effect is a hassle. For that reason, and because I saw it from Alexandra Pereira, I asked the Kings (aka my boy) for the Foreo UFO.

The device is used to apply a combo mask with LED treatment and T-Sonic pulsations in just two minutes. The red LED light promises to improve the appearance of expression lines, the green one to unify the tone and the blue one to improve the appearance of skin with imperfections. In addition, T-Sonic pulsations with a gentle massage are designed to enhance luminosity and help better distribute the treatment over the skin. This mixture of technology with the properties of the mask itself aims to stimulate collagen, improve the appearance of the skin and even reduce blemishes (I haven't noticed the latter as much).

How to use Foreo UFO: my facial routine in a few minutes

Using it is super simple. Simply download the App, register and follow the steps to synchronize the device. Once turned on, the application itself suggests the available masks, I select the one I am going to use and that's it. A whispering voice tells you how to correctly place the mask and when it is ready, the treatment can begin.

At all times (if I feel like it, because you can mute) the phone guides the treatment, explaining what it does at each step: what each type of light is for, what the pulsations do for you and what they enhance. The duration of the complete treatment varies depending on the mask you choose but does not exceed two minutes, although as there is always excess in the container, I usually repeat it one (or two) more times.

The before and after: what changes have I noticed after using it

In my case, I confirm that in just two minutes I notice my skin is more luminous, hydrated and “rested.” Plus, the makeup looks much better on me. In these years I have tried some masks, which has allowed me test the device in all its glory, but I have a clear favorite: the Glow Addict. It leaves my skin with a super juicy texture and a very flattering light. With a single application of a few minutes I can already see that good-looking effect, as if I had slept peacefully and applying makeup is easier for me (the foundation does not crack in problematic areas for me such as the nasolabial fold).

I only use this when I have an event, a wedding or an important date, always before putting on my makeup. But I have tried others that have also convinced me, with the intention of treating the skin, not just preparing it for makeup, and my favorite is Youth Junkie focused on mature skin. I like it much better than H2Overdose, which I bought by mistake and felt too thick.

The bad thing about all this is that masks are not cheap. Even with discounts, the treatment has a price of around two euros per session, which is why (although I would love to), I don't apply it every week, only when my skin feels especially dull or when I have a special occasion.

I know they exist dupes and even tutorials to take advantage of the device with other types of cheaper masks, but call me picky, if I have invested in a gadget that is not particularly cheap, I don't feel like experimenting with cheap ''inventions'' that can be very expensive.

Why the UFO Forum is still in my routine five years later

Although it is not something that is maintained in the long term – be careful, it is not that I use it every week – and it is more of an effect glow that I notice throughout the day, I confirm that compared to the blisters flash that I have used from time to time or with traditional masks there is no color.

This treatment is faster, which allows me to take advantage of it even when I'm in a hurry, and it's also tasty: it turns facial care into a very pleasant moment. Plus, my skin feels better without a doubt. Although it also has drawbacks: the price of the device, and as I have already mentioned, the masks.

Is it worth investing so much money in the UFO Foreo?

In my case yes, because I am quite lazy, I look for something with immediate effect that does not demand too much of me. I also have to confess – without wanting to be presumptuous – that my skin is quite grateful: I don't have very marked expression lines, acne or especially pronounced spots.

Therefore, I would not recommend it as a substitute for professional treatment, nor for anyone looking for a solution for more important problems. I see it as a complement if you like masks, want to prepare your skin before putting on makeup, and value comfort. It is not essential, much less cheap, but in my case it is one of those whims beauty which I have amortized with use.
