I have tried the new super hydrating Maybelline Lipstick Serum and my lips look juicy but not sticky

Finding a lipstick that doesn't transfer or feel sticky but does hydrate is a task similar to finding a unicorn. That's why when Maybelline introduced its Serum Lipstick I was so intrigued, because it promised just that. It is a moisturizing lipstick that, according to the brand itself, “combines the impact of color with the benefits of a moisturizing treatment” and all with a crazy price, because in Primor you have it for 6.10 euros. In my case, the tone I have tried is Make it work satin, color 103 and I will tell you everything.

At first you will notice it as a normal and moisturizing lipstick, with a slight shine, but as it settles the tone becomes more matte but with a satin tone and becomes a lipstick that does not transfer. Wonder. Plus, it feels super light in the mouth and is super easy to apply, whether you use a lip liner or not.

In my case I didn't use lip liner and my lips had absolutely nothing applied before, no moisturizer or makeup base to make it sit more. I applied it as is, with a clean but careful lip, soft and without flakes. The result is fantastic and improves as the minutes go by. When I went out into the street I liked the color even more.

In this case, as with the NYX Make'Em Wonder makeup base, it is a treatment product that has a formula enriched with hyaluronic acid and a fusion of nourishing oils that keeps your lips hydrated. In the case of the one I tried, it contains marula and avocado oil that hydrate, nourish and provide softness, as well as hyaluronic acid that retains water and provides hydration and achieves that “plump lips” effect, and it contains natural waxes, which act as antioxidants and moisturizers.

How to use Maybelline Lipstick Serum

The trick for a lipstick to look good is always to take care of our lips. If you want a beautiful lip, hydration is key and a good lip scrub will make a big difference in the texture and subsequent hydration. And an extra trick: applying a moisturizer like the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask every night, it is capable of leaving your lips like those of a model. Once your lip is skin-free and hydrated, the lipstick you use will look much better.

To apply it there is not much mystery, just apply carefully, always from the center and then outside. If you combine it with a lip liner, you will get more defined lines, but if you like, like me, that more natural lip effect you can apply it alone or with small touches and even make an effect blurred lipsthat Korean trend that looks so good. To do it, you just have to apply the stick in the center of your lips and with your finger, lightly touch it, blending the tone towards the ends because what you are looking for, as makeup artist Cristina G. Nuevo commented, “is not a marked contour but just the opposite: soften the edges and concentrate the color in the center of the mouth.”

With this more diffused effect and applied with small touches, you get a very subtle and natural finish, perfect for spring, but if you apply the lipstick directly and swipe, you get an intense color, like the one in the image.

The truth is that it is hydrating and since it has such a light texture, it feels very comfortable on the lips, even if hours pass. The problem now is that I liked it so much that I want it in more colors, especially the matte Wild Card color, 004, which is a super expressive red that I want to try.
