Many people have talked recently about violet shampoos (and treatments in general), those especially suitable for blonde hair. However, it is true that there are still some doubts about them that we wanted to dispel by asking experts in hairdressing and coloring.
What are violet shampoos for?
We have contacted the professionals at Borin, who have extensive experience in several hair salons in Alicante, so that they can explain everything to us about these shampoos, what they are for and the tips to get the most out of them.
From the hairdresser they tell us that the big problem comes when we decide to lighten the hair a little: “the pigmentation of Mediterranean hair, in addition to being dark, has a strong load of warm or reddish tones. This is not a problem until you decide to lighten your hair a little and the hated orange reflections begin to appear, which is much worse, when you decide to be blonde and your color tends to be yellow.”
Who among you who has been blonde at some point hasn't had something like this happen to you? To me the first, I confess. And, although I love blonde, it is true that, when I wore it, I hated that moment when the hair began to take on orange and yellowish tones. In fact, so much so that this was one of the reasons why I went back to my color, a light brown.
However, it is also true that, at that time, I had not thought about using this type of hair care lines with violet tones that basically neutralize that yellowish and orange tendency.
The solution? Apply color correction techniques to cancel those unwanted reflections and stop the hair from having that yellowing effect.

Since we will keep the tone in good condition for several months.”
Tips and options to add violet shampoos
With what has been said so far, we can already see perfectly well that having them around is a good idea. Of course, Borin does not stop giving us some advice and tips to get the most out of them: “If you give two passes of shampoo (two washes), it is better to use it only in the second pass, so with the first we clean more deeply, and with the second we finish cleaning and correct reflection.”
Of course, he also makes some clear recommendations: “Do not use it daily, it is better to alternate with a good nourishing shampoo to nourish the hair naturally and at the same time not saturate it with pigment, since excessive use of violet shampoo can cause violet or bluish reflections to appear. Finally, let it act for a few minutes, normally between 2 and 5 minutes will be enough for your hair to absorb the pigments and do not forget to apply a good conditioner afterwards, which hydrates and nourishes.”
