The hair part is responsible for framing our face and where we place it makes it look more or less balanced. According to Eduardo Sánchez, “it balances the volume of the face and is as important as customizing the cut or color of the hair.”
Diana Daureo, hairdresser, also highlights the importance of parting, especially for fine hair that needs volume and a feeling of density: “We can balance any face depending on how the hairline of the frontal area goes and the volume we generate by parting on one side or the other.”
The stripe on one side
All the experts consulted agree: heart-shaped, diamond-shaped or angular faces are the ones that benefit the most from a side part. Mª José Llata from the Llata Carrera hair salon states that it is because “it greatly softens the features of the cheekbones and jaw.” Diana Daureo agrees: “it is the best option to balance.”
The director of Maison Eduardo Sánchez corroborates this, stating that the side part is ideal for prominent chins and square or elongated faces. But he also emphasizes choosing carefully which side we part according to the swirls: “Parting against the swirl to achieve greater volume and thus lengthen the face visually is very flattering in the case of round ovals,” he explains.
Parting in the middle and parted hair
Diana Daureo has a clear favorite to wear the middle part successfully and it is a round face, because it elongates it and gives it more length, in addition to framing it. Except for long faces, it flatters almost everyone.
The luck of oval faces
If you have an oval face, you are one of the chosen ones, because any part of your hair will look good on you. This is stated by Eduardo Sánchez and Diana Daureo, who also add “triangular and rhomboid faces” to the list.
When to change your hair part
Knowing which hair part best matches the shape of your face will help you get the most out of your hair to always look perfect. But those who spend their lives changing their hair sides knew something that others didn't: changing the side parting on fine hair helps provide volume at the roots, according to Eduardo Sánchez.
