Bárbara Martos, makeup artist: "Using a black pencil on the bottom line can make you look older, it is better to use it subtly and slightly blended"

Among the many products that can make up a makeup bag, there are some that are considered completely basic. One of them and quite widespread is the classic black pencil, which as we well know is perfect for enhancing the look and achieving impressive and dramatic results.

I think that no one can doubt the good work of a black khol, the mystery is assured and the depth gained by the look applied to the water line is unmatched. However, black eyeliner also has some disadvantages, especially if you are looking for an anti-aging effect.

The makeup artist Bárbara Martos corroborates what we told you. The expert has named on her Instagram account several makeup mistakes that span years and among them is “applying dark pencil under the eye.” Without a doubt, as you age, the black pencil is not the best anti-aging ally, precisely because of its intensity, what it does is add a lot of hardness and little freshness to the look.

Furthermore, if we apply it on the water line it makes the eyes look smaller, precisely for this reason, it is usually recommended to use a light pencil on the water line. waterline, to achieve the opposite effect, enlarging the eye and providing luminosity. Martos also warns us that if we use black pencil “you have to be very careful and know how to apply it, if possible blend it a little, make it subtle, if not, it can make you look older.”

Since the eyes look so intense and dark, they end up looking overloaded, something that does not benefit when it comes to achieving a youthful and rested look. What's more, the black pencil can even intensify the features that we really want to hide, such as dark circles, wrinkles or bags.

For this reason, we always recommend using a brown pencil (not too dark either), which is much more elegant, flattering and versatile. Perfect for lining the mobile eyelid and creating the optical effect of fuller eyelashes; highlight the look without hardening and even lift the drooping eyelid with the right eyeliner and if it is in brown it will be a thousand times more flattering.
