Growing into the next chapter
In 2017, Lucinda Diack purchased latitude, with the aim to build on 10 years of delivering a great local read to Canterbury households. The aim every two months was to share the places, businesses and personalities that make Canterbury so unique – a beautifully executed insight into Canterbury’s way of life.
In late 2023 the decision was made to merge with Sarah Perriam-Lampp to form CountryWide Media where we also produce our sister publications, Country-Wide and NZ Dairy Exporter – New Zealand’s most sought-after agri-business magazines.
We have put our heart and soul into what we do and delight in hearing how much latitude has meant to our readers. Just as we were considering how to scale latitude nationally, we found the right opportunity. We needed a bit more wind in our sails to get through the current rough seas as latitude had capped its own ceiling being an iconic, but only, Canterbury magazine.
Kate Coughlan and Lynley Belton announced they were putting NZ Life & Leisure into hibernation. There are endless similarities between our two magazines and so we saw this as a natural expansion for us. We are incredibly honoured and excited to announce that we are the proud new owners of NZ Life & Leisure.
It’s bittersweet as latitude will merge from the Aug/Sept issue with NZ Life & Leisure with our vision to bring you the best of both, but our current #95 June/July issue with Jason Gunn on the cover is latitude’s last after 17 years. latitude subscribers will now receive the refreshed new NZ Life & Leisure in late July with a dedication that we will still share the stories of incredible Cantabrians!
We are all too aware this is not the news many of you will be hoping for, and it is not a decision we have made lightly. We are grateful to each and every one of you for your support and loyalty over the years, and are so very excited to share this next chapter with you.
There are some great stories to uncover out there and we can’t wait to share them with you.
Please note, all active
latitude subscriptions will be honoured in the form of
NZ Life & Leisure and will arrive in your mailbox just like
latitude would have. There is no need to do anything to activate this change in your subscription, we will do all of that for you.
