It seems that there is more and more rage to have shiny and strong hair, and for this we not only find many products but also many tips. Thanks to social networks we can have constant access to immediate information. The influential and trichologist Abbey Yung has become ultra-known precisely for her “Abbey Yung Method”, a hair care routine designed to achieve strong, healthy and beautiful hair.
Abbey Yung's method has ended up going viral, and it combines treatments before, during and after hair washing. It mainly focuses on deep hydration, but that same routine can be adapted to different hair types. The key is to achieve a healthy scalp and hair through a series of steps, although some may be optional.
The expert herself recommends the best products that she considers for each step of the method. She herself indicates that the objective is not to follow all the steps, but only those that each person considers necessary to adapt to their needs. That's why there are steps that some will consider optional. “The goal is not to suggest that they should take all these steps to have healthy hair (because they don't have to), but rather to list all the possible options so that they can choose the one that works for them,” Abbey highlights.
Some of the steps of the Abbey Yung method
Hair prewash
- Pre-Shampoo (10 min before): Apply a pre-wash treatment or oil from the mid-lengths to the ends to protect the hair from the shampoo.
Hair washing
Double Wash:

- First shampoo: Clarifying or deep cleaning to eliminate all the residue left by other products such as silicones.
- Second shampoo: Better to be gentle and moisturizing to clean without drying.
- Deep Conditioning: Use a hydrating conditioner or mask, leaving it on for a few minutes (5 min or more).
- Detangling: Comb your hair in the shower with your fingers or a wide-toothed comb while it is with conditioner, so it will slide better.
- Rinse: Rinse all products well.
Post hair wash
Leave-in products:

- Apply a leave-in conditioner and heat protectant to damp (towel-dried) hair.
- Some use a “gloss” for shine between treatment and leave-in.

Styling products: It can be a cream or a hair oil to seal, add shine and reduce frizz, focusing on the ends.
