Steamed mussels are almost always a dish that we reserve to eat in restaurants, where they are prepared with much more care. The truth is that steaming them in a pot in our house seems like a somewhat complex task that, furthermore, never meets the expectations we place on it. Well, it turns out that there is an easier way to cook these mollusks and it is in the microwave. Don't worry because the result is ten; It's not us who say it, but Noelia, an expert fishmonger.
Noelia, better known on social networks as @noelapeskaera has decided to share her star trick for preparing mussels in just a few minutes of cooking. And this way we can have a very tasty, healthy appetizer and, best of all, ready in record time.
The step by step of the expert fishmonger
Nazareth explains that preparing mussels this way is much simpler than it seems and that there is no need to resort to complicated techniques to achieve a good result. The process begins with a container, preferably glass, although a plastic one can also be used as long as it is suitable for this use. Once chosen, you have to add water until it reaches approximately two fingers high. The exact amount will depend on the number of mussels we want to prepare, so it is advisable to adapt the volume of water to the amount of mollusks.
Next, place the mussels in the container and let them rest for 15 to 20 minutes. This step is important because, as the fishmonger points out, it allows the live specimens to drink water and hydrate before cooking them. It is not a process that requires too much attention or a particularly long wait, but it is advisable to respect this interval to follow the method proposed. Once the time has elapsed, you just have to remove the water from the container and select the mussels to use and close the lid without tightening it. Nazareth then recommends placing them in the microwave for approximately two and a half minutes and they would be ready.
