This salad tastes like sushi, but it is much healthier and is made in five minutes

Posted on 21 January 2026

If you're like me, no matter what time of day you always crave sushi, you're in the right place. We know that trying to make this Japanese dish at home is not the most feasible option, because it never looks like the dishes from our favorite restaurants, plus it is a bit complicated and requires time in the kitchen. Well, it turns out that there is a salad recipe that tastes like sushi and is much healthier on top of that.

This recipe has become my favorite dinner this January because it helps take away your sushi craving and in addition to being delicious, it is made in record time. You only need five minutes of your time. It's over saying that you don't eat healthy because you don't have a little time to cook, this dish is our solution and it doesn't require you to be handy with the fires because you don't even need to light them.

Ingredients for our Japanese salad recipe

  • half a cucumber
  • Half avocado
  • A couple of tablespoons of capers
  • A Smoked Parlor Tray
  • A large spoonful of cream cheese
  • A handful of sesame seeds
  • A splash of soy sauce

The step by step to get a salad with sushi flavor

We have followed the tips from @allisguijarro's TikTok account. We start our recipe by cutting half an avocado into small cubes, then we thinly slice half a cucumber and place everything in a container. We added a couple of tablespoons of capers, a whole tray of smoked salmon, a tablespoon of cream cheese, as well as a handful of sesame seeds and a splash of soy sauce.

We continue with our recipe by putting the lid on the container and once it is tightly closed, we shake it vigorously, moving it up and down to ensure that all the ingredients are mixed evenly. Then all you have to do is open the container and you would have your sushi-flavored salad ready to enjoy.
