There is a very little-known and little-visited Spanish town that wakes up at Christmas. Almanza takes the holidays very seriously and its Christmas lighting could overtake Vigo's. Their commitment is so strong that they have the largest gingerbread cookie made of lights in all of Europe. There it is nothing.
This Leonese town is one of the most popular for Christmas in the north of Spain and no wonder: its 120,000 Christmas lights flood all its streets, squares and facades with color and warmth. A display that will be lit on November 22 and will remain until January 11, becoming a magical winter destination.
Within this enormous display, the city council has announced that there will be a gigantic gingerbread cookie, illuminated with 10,000 LED lights to reach five meters in height and become the largest in all of Europe. An icon that can be seen from anywhere in the town and that has put Almanza on the podium of charming Christmas towns.

This light show will be accompanied by a very complete Christmas market, full of craft stalls, food, chestnuts, and live music. All this in the fantasy setting of the Almanza Dwarf Forest, a hiking route full of storybook figures integrated into the oak trees. Snow White, the dwarfs, Little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket are waiting for you there, the two new arrivals for 2025. Is there a better plan for children and adults?
