If you are looking for a place to disconnect for a few days these Christmas holidays that are already around the corner, Andalusia is your place. 22 new municipalities have just been added to the Network of Magical Towns of Spain for this coming 2026 and seven of them are Andalusian. Dream places hidden in the provinces of Jaén, Málaga, Huelva, Córdoba and Almería that are already recognized as authentic gems and that we have signed up for upcoming trips with which to start the year in style.
Arjona, in Jaén
One of the strong points of this place is the history it has behind it. It is a city known especially for King Alhamar, the founder of the first Nasrid kingdom of Granada. Its old town shows its Roman, Islamic and Christian traces. Among all those walls and cobblestone streets, its cultural heritage is evident, although nature is not far behind because the olive trees bathe all the views around it. An idyllic image that is worth seeing with your own eyes.
Arjonilla, Jaen
A few kilometers from Arjona is another town that you cannot miss. Being close to each other, it is ideal to visit both if you are passing through the province of Jaén. The Arjonilla castle is more than enough reason to make a stop in this place and stroll through its streets full of history. The olive cooperatives are undoubtedly the current hallmark of this place and if you dare to learn a little more about them, the experience in this town is multiplied by a hundred.

Bujalance, Córdoba
A key point to understand the history of Al-Andalus. Its streets are the example of the Andalusian scene that comes to mind when thinking about a town in the south. Courtyards with flowers, white facades and charming churches reign supreme. We do not overlook its famous castle tower, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the place that is unmatched. Oil is its hallmark.

La Palma del Condado, Huelva
If we go to Huelva, stopping in La Palma del Condado is essential. A place where tradition reigns and whose popular festivals are already a benchmark in terms of tourism. This town, in addition to having very charming streets, stands out especially for its century-old wineries and exquisite wine that you absolutely have to taste on your trip.

Taverns, Almeria
A spot which has supported countless filming of films with a theme western. And Tabernas can make you feel like a setting typical of the Far West, because its landscapes are extremely similar. Just for the cinematographic culture that it carries behind it, it is worth visiting this municipality, but its castle is also an impressive monument.

Arriate, Malaga
From the Church of San Juan de Letrán to a sunset at the Mirador de la Estacá sitting on El Banco Gigante. This town is a mandatory visit. Beyond its idyllic routes through the riverside forest, it also has a pet that the town keeps: Valentina, a stork that lives all year round in a chimney of an old mill there.

Gaucin, Malaga
The last town on the list and one of the most special. Located in the Serranía de Ronda region, it forms a magical town, surrounded by cork oaks, holm oaks and pines. Although perhaps its strong point is its whitewashed houses, its clear hallmark. Apart from being a place where it is a pleasure to spend hours and hours walking, it is also full of history behind it.

Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and Christians have left their mark there, and its architecture and details reflect this. If you are looking for a getaway to enhance your Christmas holidays, the south is always a good choice and these towns even more so.
