Alicante has magical corners and today we are going to talk about one of our favorites. Els Poblets is a beautiful town on the Alicante coast with Arab origins. Its peaceful beaches with turquoise waters are wonderful and calm, accompanied by a green landscape and ancient Roman sites, which make it an affordable and well-rounded getaway for the whole family.
What to see and do in Els Poblets, Alicante
Els Poblets is the union of three previous towns: Setla, Mirarrosa and Miraflor, three Muslim arches that give its town center an ancient character, with traditional farmhouses and oil mills still standing and marking the urban layout. Among the cultural visits, the church of Sant Josep, modernist from the 18th century, stands out; and the parish of El Salvador, a Renaissance temple from the 15th century.

Roman site of l'Almadrava
Els Poblets also surprises with the Mirarosa Tower, a Renaissance defensive construction from the 15th and 16th centuries. However, the most unexpected thing is its Roman site, which includes an old pottery workshop with a manor house and remains of amphorae, ovens and even baths.

Of course, no getaway to Levante is complete without a good beach session. In Els Poblets we have Almadrava Beach and Deveses Beach, two quiet and beautiful coasts, with calm waters ideal for going with children and being calm.
Where to eat delicious and cheap in Els Poblets

Here you not only enjoy the beach and the Mediterranean climate, you also have exquisite food. Band rice, fideuaabalone and some scrumptious salted fish, such as anchovies, mussels or cod. Our favorite places to taste local cuisine are Llum Restaurante and El Paquebote Denia, on the beachfront.
What to do around Els Poblets

Next to Els Poblets is the Girona River route, a somewhat complex 14-kilometer walk that is nicknamed “the Cathedral of Hiking”: it is circular and is done through thousands of steps carved into the stone, which take you between torrents, springs and gorges to El Barranco del Infierno, a gorge with impressive views.
