If we were to think about the setting of a medieval film, there would probably be few better places for it than Labraza. This hidden gem in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa in the Basque Country at the top of a walled hill as if it were a spot excised from a movie about druids and dragons, is also the place to be to enjoy a dream weekend. Nature in abundance, spaces impregnated with vibrant green and vineyards everywhere mix with that aesthetic that seems frozen in time, creating a postcard image that if you have the pleasure of seeing it in person you will never forget.
This small town has barely 70 residents who live within its walls and enjoy all those cobblestone streets every day. It is a tiny village, yes, but it is full of history, in fact it would be the smallest walled town in the Basque Country and all those fortifications that surround it are its hallmark, to such an extent that in 2008 it was recognized with an international award as a “living wall”.
This town is a perfect place to make a day visit and enjoy the environment away from the rush of big cities. And although you can see it in only fifteen minutes, it is true that it requires at least an entire day to be able to enjoy the landscape where finally the noise of horns and all that hustle and bustle that the largest cities bring with them do not reign.

If you are especially a nature lover and you like routes, Labranza has a three and a quarter hour circular walk that leaves from the town church and runs through the area. It is an option that you can even do as a family and even bring children because it is the easiest. You don't need to be an expert hiker to do this and this is always a must. A perfect Sunday plan to start the day with a little exercise and seal it with a walk through Labranza.
