Nicolás Coronado, son of José Coronado: "I lived in a town in Segovia with 27 inhabitants until I was 10 years old. When I was 7, I rode my bike freely on the roads, something I didn't value as much as I do now."

At the age of seven, Nicolás Coronado would take his bike and ride along the roads without knowing if he would turn right or left at the next fork. That is the memory he chose when 'Readings' asked him about the most beautiful moment he remembers from his childhood. The son of José Coronado and Paola Dominguín also said that he lived in “a town in Segovia with 27 inhabitants until he was 10 years old” and that then he did not value the freedom of being able to get lost in the countryside as much as now.

However, the model and actor now does not reside in the center of a large capital but in a town in Toledo, where he has set up a spiritual retreat with his partner. He recognizes that outside the city he does not have all the offerings “at street level”, but he says that returning to live in one would be very difficult for him. So, the child who went out aimlessly pedaling retains, at least, the desire to have a field nearby.

Although in that interview he did not reveal the name of the town of Segovia in which he spent the best years of his childhood, we do know that his family is linked to Brieva, where his grandmother, Lucía Bosé, lived her last years. In fact, the tribute they dedicated to him after his death in 2020 is currently located there.

A getaway to Brieva, in the Segovia of your memories

Brieva is just 13 kilometers from Segovia capital and is located at the foot of the Guadarrama mountain range, between the Pirón river and the Polendos stream. Old stone houses predominate in its streets, some with the typical Segovian sgraffito.

For a getaway, it is best to start the walk in the Plaza Mayor, where there is an architectural transept from 1725, and continue to the church of Santiago Apóstol, which preserves a Romanesque apse. The town also has an old restored communal forge that can be visited with prior reservation.

And, when it's time to eat, El Palomar de Brieva, on Ancha Street, offers traditional cuisine and seasonal dishes. You can even extend the getaway by continuing the route to other towns in the area such as Torreiglesias and Turégano.
