The entire world is excited about the solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, a total eclipse that has not been seen for more than a century. We are lucky, Spain is one of the places where this phenomenon can best be seen, a privileged stage for the astronomical spectacle. However, it will only look good in the north of the Iberian Peninsula. No problem, there will be two others that we will see even in Andalusia.
The total eclipse of 2026 will be seen especially well in northern Spain, especially in places like Galicia or Asturias where the band of totality is absolute. We can also see it in the center of the plateau in a more partial way. And it won't be our only chance, because experts have already warned of two other solar eclipses in 2027 and 2028.

On August 2, 2027, a total solar eclipse will cross southern Spain through the Strait of Gibraltar for five minutes, at 10:50 a.m. This eclipse is part of the trio of Iberian eclipses and will be partially visible throughout the country, starting in the Atlantic Ocean and traveling through Andalusia and the North African coast. For this reason, Spain is the only point in Europe where it can be seen.

The third of the solar eclipses in Spain will be on January 26, 2028, an annular eclipse that will cross the peninsula from southwest to northeast, with the ring being seen especially well in Andalusia and the Valencian Community at sunset, around 7 p.m. However, it will be seen as a partial eclipse in the rest of the country. To see another total solar eclipse in Spain we will have to wait until 2053.
