What to see in Jaca, Huesca
Jaca is a Romanesque city full of squares, heritage, walls, alleys and monuments with centuries and centuries of history behind them. Not content with showing off such a military building, the inhabitants of Jaca also boast of their majestic Romanesque cathedral, one of the oldest in this style in all of Spain. It was built in 1077 with three naves, apses and baroque and Gothic details that it acquired over time. The cloister area has been converted into the Diocesan Museum, with one of the best collection of Romanesque murals in the world. In addition, the temple houses the paintings of Bagües, known as the 'Sistine Chapel of the Spanish Romanesque'.

In addition to these two very famous monuments, Jaca has a historic center considered an Asset of Cultural Interest, in which the Town Hall with its beautiful clock tower and the Monastery of the Benedictines with the church of San Ginés and its Romanesque façade stand out. Both are from the 16th century. In this town there are also modernist buildings, such as the palace of the Marqués de la Cadena.

The gastronomy in Jaca is based on tapas, meat casseroles, sausages, cheeses and the popular Jacetan pot. In the city center there are many taverns to taste these delicacies, such as La Tasca de Ana or La Cadiera, both typical, with an economical daily menu and very traditional.
What to do near Jaca, Huesca
Jaca is in a beautiful natural setting at any time of the year. Therefore, going up to the viewpoint of the Rapitán Fort is an incredible plan to have a panoramic view of the entire city and the mountains that surround it. Getting to this 19th century fortress is a steep one-hour walk, but you can get there by car or take advantage of it for active tourism.
