The chicken burgers sold in supermarkets have everything except chicken. They are an ultra-processed product loaded with preservatives, starches, emulsifiers and other additives that we think is healthier because it has chicken meat. Nothing could be further from the truth. Luckily, the new Masterchef judge, Marta Sanahuja, has the perfect recipe for chicken burgers that we can make at home, easy and perfect for a light but filling dinner.

Known on the internet as Delicious Martha, the gastronomic expert is the place to be for fit recipes, and with this chicken burger recipe she proves it again. For two people we need a chicken breast, two boiled eggs and a roasted sweet potato, in addition to the spices you like the most to give it flavor.

We roast the sweet potato, since we will integrate it into the mixture so that it has a moister texture that compensates for the breasts. You don't need to complicate things, you can roast it in the air fryer or using the microwave, the quickest and easiest way. Once cold, we peel it and add it to a food processor (like this one) along with a chopped breast, the two boiled eggs and the spices that we like the most. Sanahuja uses garlic powder, oregano and a little onion powder, as well as adding salt.

When we have a homogeneous mixture without it being too crushed so that it is not a paste, we make the burgers with very clean hands. If the mixture is too sticky, we can add a little olive oil so that shaping them is not so complicated. Once ready, we cook in a pan as we would with any hamburger, being careful that the heat is not too high so that they do not burn but the chicken meat does cook. It is important that they are cooked well because the chicken cannot be eaten raw, so put it over medium heat as Sanahuja recommends to ensure that the inside is cooked to perfection.

On their own they are delicious and if we want to reduce the calories consumed, it is better to forget about adding any sauce, especially processed ones. With a simple green salad or something more fun like a gilda salad, we will have a light dinner perfect for any day of the week. We could also eat them with bread like any other burger, but it is not essential.
