We know that pasta salad is the star meal of tupperware summer, but we are willing to open new culinary horizons and bet on different recipes. To do this, we take notes from the kitchen experts: the chefs. Specifically, Dani García has shared a fresh proposal that is very easy to prepare, an ideal dish for these hot months that is made in record time and is suitable for lazy people in the kitchen. We are talking about potato salad.
Although you may think that you already know how to make this recipe because it is the easiest, the truth is that to achieve a Michelin star result, Dani García revealed in the RTVE program 'Make of eating' his secret to enhance the flavor. It turns out that he integrates the tuna with the mayonnaise and then adds the rest of the ingredients such as tomato, cucumber and egg.
Ingredients
- Potatoes
- 1 cucumber
- 3 tomatoes
- 1 can of tuna
- 50 g capers
- 2 eggs
- fresh chives
- Olive oil
- Salt
The step by step to achieve a chef's result
The first step is to wash the potatoes well and place them, unpeeled, in a saucepan with water along with the eggs. When the water starts to boil, let the eggs cook for about 10 minutes and then remove them. The potatoes will need a little more time, approximately 18 to 20 minutes.
The main tip for this salad to be perfect is to cook the potatoes just right. They should be tender, but not falling apart, since over- or under-cooking can ruin the texture of the dish.
Then we wash the cucumber and tomatoes and cut them into very thin slices. We continue with the sauce that we will make by mixing the mayonnaise with the tuna until we obtain a homogeneous cream and we keep this mixture in the refrigerator until it is time to serve the salad.
Once the potatoes and eggs have cooled after removing them from the casserole, we peel them, chop them and mix everything. We also take the opportunity to chop the chives and chervil. Then we heat a little olive oil and fry the capers until crispy. It is key to conserve that oil since we will use it to dress the salad.
We combine the egg with the potatoes, as well as the tomato and cucumber and season the result with the caper-flavored oil and put the tuna mayonnaise, crunchy capers, chives and chervil on top when serving. And thus our perfect recipe would be ready to taste.
