I had never tried a draining massage and now I can't stop recommending it to my friends.

I have a friend who lives quite immersed in the universe wellness and that for a few months she had been insisting the entire group to try a body treatment that, according to her, was truly wonderful. Draining massages had become her best discovery. I listened to her speak with a mixture of curiosity and skepticism, but in the end the insistence had its effect and I was encouraged to try the RoyalTouch by Fernanda method, in Madrid. It is a 60-minute body massage that combines different manual maneuvers and seeks to promote circulation and help reduce fluid retention, working the body globally, from the neck to the feet.

What is a draining massage for?

I confess that I went to my appointment without many expectations, since I had not noticed areas in my body that were more prone to fluid retention than others. But of course not everything is perceived visually. The first thing you think about before doing this type of treatment is: what are they really for? At the center they were able to answer some questions for me before starting, and that is that it is a technique that combines pumping movements inspired by traditional lymphatic drainage with remodeling maneuvers aimed at working on the body contour. Basically, what is sought with this massage is to stimulate the lymphatic system and promote the circulation of fluids.

Something became clear to me before starting the treatment and that is that it is a proposal that combines body work with a perspective of well-being, both internally and externally. Therefore, while they were giving me the massage and after working on one of my legs, they asked me to lift it to check the sensation. And here came the surprise: it felt much lighter than I expected. The funny thing was when I lifted the leg that had not yet been massaged, I had the impression that one leg weighed considerably less than the other.

Then they continued with the other leg, the arms, and the abdomen. When I finished, I felt especially light, a sensation that I also felt during the following days. Of course, in my case, I cannot talk about a visible before and after or specific physical changes, because it requires a greater number of sessions to do so. I also confess that this was not the objective of my visit, but rather to enhance bodily well-being a little more. And sometimes we associate body treatments exclusively with aesthetic issues or with the intention of modifying our silhouette, when there are techniques also aimed at well-being and relieving the feeling of heaviness.

Since I have tried this treatment, I understand much more hype behind him. This does not mean that draining massages are the only resource if you notice a certain accumulation of fluids. I, for example, had never had that feeling of heaviness in my legs or arms and I left the session, however, super light. Without a doubt, it is an experience that I now dare to share with other people, not because I think that we need to add another treatment to our self-care routine, but because I consider that the result and the sensation after that little time of pampering are very worth it.
