My map of favorite cafes in Madrid: the most special corners of the capital that I always return to

Posted on 19 August 2026

Madrid is full of specialty coffee shops. Every so often a new one grows with a more interesting menu than the previous one, but the truth is that as much as we all like to try new places, we know very well which are those places to which we always return, those spaces to which you would undoubtedly take someone because “there is no other toast like it”, or “they have the best brownie in the city” or simply, their atmosphere is so welcoming that you never tire of recommending it. Here I leave you some of my essentials from the capital. Very different from each other, but loaded with quality products and unforgettable flavors: take note.

A little bit of Argentina

It was a great discovery, no wonder there is always a line outside, and it has one of the most special breakfasts in Madrid. This is Cuadra, in Chamberí, an Argentine bakery that also offers savory breakfasts. A super fresh artisanal proposal that comes direct from Buenos Aires. If you like to have different things for breakfast, the pressed smoked loin chipa is a great choice. Of course, its strong point is pastries, where you can find everything from the classic pain au chocolat even an incomparable Danish. Its average price is 12 euros.

My spot most recurrent

The Fix, a couple of minutes from Plaza España, has, in addition to a ten-dollar specialty coffee, one of my favorite toasts. It seems simple, but the combination and quality of the products speak for themselves. It is a sourdough bread with a combination of tomatoes and vegan cashew cheese with homemade pesto. Leave room for a salty touch because the brownies with macadamia nut it is one of the best I have ever tried. A must to go with family, friends or even enjoy yourself with a good book. Its average price is 10 to 12 euros.

An American touch

We know well that many of you love pancakes in the American version and that going out for breakfast and finding ones that will transport you directly to New York is not easy at all, but at El Gordito they make the best ones in Madrid. This place is located in Malasaña and has some pancakes with maple syrup, topped with a small portion of butter that I recommend taking with the topping crispy bacon. It also has a very top selection of sandwiches, in case you are more of a salty person. Its average price is 15 euros.

A different breakfast

Osom already has three stores in the capital, one in Chamberí, another in Alonso Martínez and another in Antón Martín. Its success does not surprise us at all because the breakfasts in this place are finger-licking good. They make the coffee spectacular, but they also have a bowl of scrambled eggs with avocado, candied cherries, cashew cheese, spicy sesame oil, seeds, hemp, chill flakessourdough bread and arugula that is delicious. Its average price is 15 euros.

He brunch perfect in quality-price

Many times you find a brunch That it takes away your hunger until dinner time and that it is financially profitable for you, is not that simple. Most in Madrid amount to around 20 euros per person. This is not the case at Cinco Hileras, which offers you for 9.90 euros a hot drink to choose from the menu, a toast, as well as a yogurt with fruit and the dessert of the day.

To this we add that everything is delicious and that the toasts, despite their price, are not at all simple, because they are available with sourdough bread, artichoke cream, goat cheese, black olives and honey, as well as another with marinated chicken accompanied with yogurt sauce, mascarpone, lemon, tahini and pickled onion. It is in the heart of Lavapiés and is a must.
