Goyo Acevedo, makeup artist: "For small, brown eyes, apply the shade from the middle of the eye to the outside, and use light colors from the pupil to the tear duct to enlarge the look."

As time goes by, we discover that it is necessary to make certain changes in the way we take care of our skin and also when it comes to putting on makeup. Precisely, makeup is a great tool to highlight our natural beauty, but if there is something we have learned, it is that as we get older, what worked for us before may not now and we need to carry out other tricks or practices.

To enhance what we like most and hide or correct what we least like, it is important to make certain adjustments, which will be the ones that will make the difference. For example, it is better for the makeup base to be light and applied in thin layers, for the eyeliner to lift the drooping eyelid or for the shadows to enlarge and rejuvenate the look.

Makeup artist Goyo Acevedo has explained to the Telva publication the most appropriate way to makeup the features of mature skin. The expert tells what those small adjustments are that help make the result more rejuvenating and fresh.

Acevedo recommends, regardless of your age, “combining eye shadow with the color of each eye. Age would be more related to the personality of each woman. For example, a light eye can perfectly wear a burgundy tone if your style accompanies it,” says the makeup artist.

Regarding the use of very dark shadows in the eye socket, the makeup artist makes it clear that “this will depend on the eye you have. If you have light eyes, even if they are small, the dark tones bring out more brightness to the iris and more light (the fact that I could sink the eye is a wrong myth),” he explains.

On the other hand, in the case of having “small eyes and dark irises, applying dark tones throughout the socket can make the eye look more sunken. In these cases, the ideal is to apply the dark tone from the middle of the eye outwards, and use light tones from the pupil to the tear duct to visually separate and enlarge the eye,” the expert recommends.

Eyeliner is always a very interesting option to highlight your look and many women do not want to give it up. What you have to keep in mind so that the eyeliner does not sink into the eye is to avoid making an entire eyeliner. “Do it only at the end of the eyeliner and very thin, so that it is very attached and integrated with the eyelash so that there is no cut, this way your look will lengthen without sinking it,” Goyo clarifies.

But if there is a fairly common mistake with eyeliner, it is that the result is uneven. “To do it right, at first do it with a brown pencil and then apply the black eyeliner on top, leaving the black thinner than the brown, this way you hide the mistake,” he says.

Eyelashes are also important when we are looking for a more youthful and open look, and so that they appear denser and do not become caked: “The trick is to apply a layer first and let it dry before applying the next, and so on until we achieve the designed volume depending on the event we are going to,” advises the makeup artist. And as for the color of the mascara, Goyo says that he always recommends black because it never goes out of style.
