In spring we feel like leaving the house again and taking advantage of the weekends to go on nature getaways. For this reason, we have chosen the most exuberant hiking route in our country, full of paths that intersect with waterfalls, waterfalls, caves and lakes, in the shade of ancient trees and with a 900-year-old monastery in the center. It looks like the jungle of Thailand, but you are in Spain.
The Monasterio de Piedra, on the banks of the Piedra River in Zaragoza, is an old Cistercian monastery located in a beautiful Natural Park, where the waterfalls and water provide the soundtrack of this route, which lasts about two and a half hours and is very easy to do, whether on foot or by bicycle. Here is the map to organize it.
This haven of peace is a paradise around every corner. However, it has some unmissable natural monuments, such as Lake Espejo, the Caprichosa waterfall or the imposing Cola de Caballo, a huge 50-meter waterfall with a natural cave inside, with stalactites that offer a view of the impressive curtain of water.

In the center of the route is the 12th century Cistercian Monastery, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. Although part of it has been renovated as a hotel and spa, it still maintains its 13th century cloister, a Renaissance staircase, the library and a medieval wall with the Keep. All of this can be visited, including the kitchen where the first chocolate in Europe was made.

Entry to this entire venue costs 18.7 euros on-line and a little more at the box office on siteso we recommend you be proactive. You can go at any time, taking into account that it is open from 9 in the morning to 7 in the afternoon and that the last entry is at 5:30 p.m. It is a great plan worthy of paradise countries, like Spain.
