Being a mother is one of the best things that has happened to me in my life and I adore my children. The truth is that what is often said about a mother's unconditional love is completely true.
When you become a mother, you say goodbye in a way to who you were before and enter a new stage of life. And that change can also involve grief because you stop doing many things that you used to love, whether due to lack of time or priorities, whatever you want to call it. And your life begins to revolve around other needs, or rather, covering the needs of your little ones. That is why it is so important to keep certain things that sustain us and give us that push to continue with all our daily obligations.
Our date one weekend a year
In my case, I have a date with my friends every year between the months of March and May in which we go on a trip. It's just a weekend, to a nearby destination, that suits us all more or less well because there is one who lives further away and that we have just enough time to disconnect, laugh, gossip, talk about life, work, motherhood, non-motherhood, the books we are reading, what we have learned lately, what has happened to us and we have not told each other, share the aesthetic treatments we have had, … and anything that evades us from our responsibilities, even if it is only for two days.
Our last trip was to Ourense, although this time one of us failed due to force majeure and we miss her very much. We chose the destination because it coincided with the Ouren Sound Fest, and we used to go to festivals a lot—in our other self, hahaha—, to see Iván Ferreiro and Love of Lesbian. We stayed at Morar Apartments Ourense and the truth is that the apartment was ideal. We shared a room but there were two bathrooms and everything was beautiful and impeccable, in the heart of Orense.

Like a good Galician city, that afternoon during the festival the World Cup fell on us, to the point that they had to interrupt some concerts due to the rain and we had to jump rivers of water to get to the bus back to the center, but not even that could ruin our plan. On the contrary. We enjoyed it very much.
Especially me, because I have to say that I rediscovered Iván Ferreiro, whom I had not seen for many years and I loved being able to do it just when he is presenting his 'Hoy por yesterday' tour, in which he recovers a lot of songs from 'Los Piratas'. Listening to those songs live again was a real trip back in time. I was happy.
There was also time to enjoy local cuisine. The next day we had a luxury brunch at one of the coolest restaurants in the city, Malala Coffee &Brunch, where they served coffee in a bear-shaped cup. A detail that inevitably made us think about our little ones and how much they would have liked to see it.

And if there is something that is never missing on these trips, it is a small gastronomic tribute and some disconnection plan. Throughout the day we were visiting the city's hot springs, and normally, we also like to book a massage or some beauty treatment that allows us to forget about everything for a while and enjoy without looking at the clock.
On this occasion we chose to take the little train that takes from the center to the beautiful Outariz Hot Springs, where we did a circuit of its different pools, both indoor and outdoor, and ended with a body massage.

In the afternoon we decided to go have some wines and try different dishes from the area, where of course the Galician-style octopus could not be missed.
A short but very necessary trip for all of us, mothers or not, because it really is a great plan. It allows us to get out of the routine, including the weekend routine, and disconnect for a few hours to feel a little more like ourselves again.

In the end, it's about stopping, taking a breath and returning home with your batteries charged and more eager than ever.
