This season there is a clear trend for medium-length hair cuts, with the midi cut being the most sought after for its versatility and elegance. For hair experts, this style offers the femininity of long hair, and at the same time the freshness and lightness of short hair.
In autumn many women seek to eliminate the havoc that summer has left on their hair, and this is where the midi becomes the star cut. Ideal for removing all damaged ends, giving a new shape to the hair and gaining dynamism by removing a lot of weight. In addition, fine hair gets natural volume and a super flattering immediate density effect.
The stylist Manuel Zabaleta (@manuel.hair_and_makeup), explains in an article in The Beauty Concept Magazine, that the midi is not a single cut as such, but within the midi style there are different lengths that range between the height of the shoulder and the clavicle. “With the right length and the well-calculated cutting point, you can soften marked jaws, elongate round faces or provide structure to oval faces. It is, therefore, a cut that adapts to the person, and not the other way around, which explains why it works on practically any type of features,” says the hairdresser.
Midi hair is worn according to each person's personal style.
As we have said, the midi cut has different lengths and even shapes, hence its versatility. In general terms, classic styles tend to have straight lines, no or very subtle layers, and an elegant polished finish. On the other hand, for a more modern or daring style, Zabaleta recommends “opting for a midi with curtain bangs or with a slight gradient, while for a more sophisticated result it works very well combined with a side part and soft waves,” he points out.
As the professional explains, it is important to “choose the cutting point well with the specialist, since in a midi each centimeter makes a visible difference in how the hair falls and moves,” he emphasizes.

In addition, the midi cut allows for different variations and hairstyles, it is not rigid hair and its length is perfect to be able to put it up if desired. For this reason, it is a cut that is very desirable when looking for a change of look, because it does not prevent you from showing off different shapes.
It can be worn straight and polished, with a hollow effect like the boucy bob hair, with broken waves for a casual style or big curls to recover the sophistication of the nineties. Of course, the best trend hairstyles can also be done in this type of length: low updos, semi-updos or elegant pigtails. “It also allows you to play with the parting (centered, lateral or zigzag) to vary the effect without having to cut again. It is, in short, a cut that gives a lot of play to change your look from one day to the next without compromising the health of the hair,” explains Manuel.
