In recent years eyebrows have gained a lot of prominence, and they are more natural than ever. But this has not always been the case, they have also looked minimal during the nineties and even quite arched in the Linda Evangelista style. The problem with this practice came later, when many people realized that their hair stopped growing, and their eyebrows could no longer go from that fine line to thicker and denser eyebrows as they are looking for now.
For this reason, makeup has established itself as the perfect ally to enhance eyebrows. Beyond sophisticated techniques such as microblading or eyebrow lamination, makeup has been a resource used throughout life to fill in, widen and lengthen eyebrows, and it continues to be very important when it comes to beautifying and perfecting them.
The makeup artist Susana Marín, from her Instagram account (@redcarpetsecrets) has explained that she herself: “From the age of 45 I began to lose a lot of hair from my eyebrows. I have maintained them well with eyebrow serums and I have also tried microblading. But to do makeup I have little tricks,” says Marín.
The expert confesses that to define the eyebrows she uses the Anastasia Beverly Hills trick, which consists of marking three points on the nose. One at the tip, one in the middle of the nostril and one at the end of the nostril. These three points will serve as support to draw an imaginary line towards the eyebrow.
If we use the last marked point and draw an imaginary line to the end of the eyebrow, we can mark the tail of it. With the second point, which is on the side of the nose, passing through the tear duct with the pencil, we will indicate the beginning of the eyebrow. And with the first point, the one we have marked on the tip of the nose, as indicated by the makeup artist, it will help us find the highest point of the arch.
After marking the three points on the eyebrow, we will use them as a guide to shape the eyebrows. Susana uses the Anastasia Beverly Hills Microstroke Marker, which has an ultra-fine and precise tip. Little by little the professional creates hairs following the natural shape of the eyebrow, and then brushes them for a more polished finish.
Other tricks that rejuvenate and refresh your eyes
We know that eyebrows act as a natural mark and wearing them well made up helps a lot to enhance the eyes and face in general. Susana, beyond the eyebrows, leaves us other tricks that work.
To brighten the look, “one of the simplest tricks is to use a skin-tone pencil on the lower water line, it removes that tired eye effect instantly and eliminates redness,” says the expert. A beige pencil is a basic that should not be missing in your makeup bag after 40.
After illuminating, we can give the look an anti-aging lifting effect. Here Marín recommends that: “when you apply the mascara, do it from the root and rotating the brush. It is a way to curl the eyelash more. Don't forget the outer eyelashes because these are the ones that will lift your eyelid,” he points out.
