Considering a change of look starting at 60 can be a good hair strategy at this age. As we age, our hair also changes, it becomes thinner, has less volume and grows more slowly, and beyond having a good hair routine, we have to know that a strategic haircut is a great rejuvenating bet.
Just as gray hair can be rejuvenated with proper toning work, hair can also gain volume, movement and have a more flattering effect on the face if a cut that adapts to all these needs is correctly chosen.
Those who know the most in this field are very clear, there are haircuts that especially favor those in their sixties. Just like showing off faded and luminous gray hair also transforms the image a lot. The hairdresser Moncho Moreno has left some tips for the Telva publication so that the hair continues to look beautiful at any age.
One of the most common and least flattering mistakes at this age is to let too much time pass without dyeing the hair and this precisely “does not always favor the hair due to the contrast at the roots, the ideal is to maintain a fairly regular routine every 3 or 4 weeks without overloading the mid-lengths and ends,” says Moncho.
The haircuts that most flatter people at 60
From the age of sixty onwards, the haircuts that work best are those that provide lightness and movement. “Very excessive long cuts can harden the features, so medium lengths or cuts above the shoulders normally work better, with soft layers that give volume and naturalness,” explains the hairdresser.
Who also agrees is the hairdresser Raquel Saiz, from Salón Blue de Cantabria: “From an age like this, we need a look that provides strength and energy to rejuvenate us because the hair loses density and thickness and it is necessary to counteract it with looks that achieve greater volume and energize our image.”

One of the cuts that the expert recommends the most is the always flattering and attractive bob cut. “It is very modern, youthful and that is why it takes away the years. If we want extra volume, we will add layers, if it is not necessary, then opt for the shorter version of this cut with the part in the middle,” she points out.
It is also true that there are many women who do not usually take well to cutting their hair, and have doubts about taking the leap. Regarding this, Moncho assures that “a cut always helps because it helps to have healthy hair and makes the hair look fuller, although it does not change the actual amount of hair,” he concludes.
To cover gray hair, there is no need to apply dye all over your hair.
When the hair is dyed and the roots begin to show, it is best to focus on not applying the dye all over the hair, since the hair tends to become brittle, and its appearance will be duller and drier. For this reason, “it is not a good idea to drag the dye all over the hair every time. The ideal is to work only on the roots and, if necessary, tone the mid-lengths and ends with a color or a bath of a softer tone,” says Moreno.

For this reason, it is important that when working with hair dye, it is in the most respectful way. “It's not just about covering gray hair or roots but also about taking care of the fiber. Therefore, we must always opt for quality formulas and accompanying the color with treatments that keep the hair hydrated and shiny,” emphasizes Moreno.
The hairdresser points out that a good option for gray hair is to opt for mud, “which covers the gray hair but is much less aggressive for the hair.” Likewise, henna is another of the techniques that is gaining more weight, especially because it covers gray hair well and improves hair quality.
Going gray is also an option
As we always say, there is gray hair and gray hair, and there are cases where gray hair is so beautiful that we perfectly understand why it looks incredible, no matter what age you are.
Therefore, if what you want is to leave your gray hair, it is essential to take care of it correctly, so that it looks its best. Specific shampoos for white or gray hair are key, as is hydration to soften gray hair. “Although a good cut helps a lot, as does working on nutrition so that gray hair does not look rough or unkempt,” highlights Moreno.
