The historic center of Tamariu is an amalgamation of narrow alleys and white facades, typical of an old fishing village. Its port is charming and very authentic, with colorful barges rattling on the shore to the rhythm of the waves. It does not have large monuments, nor does it lack any: its promenade with arches and arcades and its steep, rocky cliffs are the real treasure.
All its little streets lead to the Mediterranean and Tamariu beach, a quiet and serene bay about 200 meters long perfect for the whole family, surrounded by exquisite restaurants, soft sand and a promenade lined with pine forests. It has a blue flag, services and allows you to do water sports such as kayak either paddle surf in its turquoise and shallow waters.

Although Tamariu is small, its gastronomy is gigantic. It boasts the typical recipes of a fishing town in Catalonia, with products from the sea and the land. Their specialty is sardines, rice and the popular fish suquetor exquisite fish stew. We can try everything and with sea views at Restaurant Es Dofí or at El Palanquí. We can also lick our fingers at Restaurant Mossec, which is in the center and has the best reviews with its rice in the casserole.

Cala Marquesa Aigua Xelida
Tamariu is part of the Camino de Ronda, a path on the Costa Brava between rock walls and pine forests that connects, through hiking routes, different hidden coves, viewpoints on cliffs, hidden beaches and charming towns in Bajo Empordá. Following this path we reach some intimate bays such as Cala Marquesa Aigua Xelida in the north or Cala Pedrosa in the south.
