Something very normal is that throughout life many of our tastes change, which is why our style evolves with us. Starting at 40, is when we begin to realize that beyond fashion, it is important to opt for the styles that most flatter us and enhance our best version. So, taking this premise to the field of nails, we must know that manicure can also have a rejuvenating effect.
Clearly there are tones and nail designs that are more flattering, that stylize, soften imperfections and thus, in general terms, look much more elegant and youthful. Because when hands look cared for, with a beautiful nail design, and with intention, they transmit freshness, care and a lot of sophistication.
Manicures for women over 40
To discover which manicures are the most recommended by experts, we have looked at the statements made by two professionals in the sector to the publication Hello. Lucía Jiménez, ambassador of NEONAIL, and Aude Peyrefiche, national director of Vitry Spain.
Natural tones for always perfect hands
Light and natural tones are always a safe bet to show off impeccable hands, because in addition to being pretty they have a very beautifying capacity. Aude Peyrefiche highlights that enamels nude”“They unify the color of the nail and provide a clean and luminous appearance.” This effect is something that many women look for when choosing a nail color that is elegant but without being excessive, and is the perfect option for everyday use.
Lucía Jiménez also believes that this type of tones always works “because they visually unify the hand, provide order and make the fingers look longer and more stylized.”
French manicure in micro version

When we talk about rejuvenating manicures, the French manicure always comes up. It is a very beautiful and clean manicure, which is why “it has become one of the most flattering options because it stylizes the nail without creating a harsh contrast,” says Peyrefiche. In addition, the French XS is the “finer and more subtle version of the usual French manicure,” adds Jiménez.
Chrome Rosewater Nails

It is a really flattering manicure because it combines rejuvenating light pink water with extra shine and that feels great after 40. According to Aude, it is “a translucent pink base combined with another layer of pearlescent nail lacquer to provide iridescent reflections.” Furthermore, as the expert explains, this gloss works so well because it reflects light in a very flattering way and also softens the texture of the skin.
Milky nails

Since white nails with a milky effect came out, we have not stopped including them among the nail trends year after year. This is not only because of how cool they look but also because of how much they flatter mature hands. Lucía explains that milky nails “are very rejuvenating because they blur imperfections and soften the tone of the hand.”
powder pink

Classic tones such as pinks or nude are a safe bet: “They unify the color of the nail and provide a clean and bright appearance,” explains Aude. These types of shades are perfect for those looking for a careful design and hands ready for any occasion.
pastel tones

Now that we are in spring, pastel tones take on a special role and it is precisely these types of tones that feel best if you want to add a touch of color. Peyrefiche comments that “pastel colors in soft, desaturated versions, such as lavender, powder blue or peach, provide a touch of color without hardening the appearance of the hands.”
Manicure soap nails

Another very elegant and rejuvenating option is soap nails, which look very clean and attractive. This design “is based on very natural nails, with a transparent shine and tones nude pinks that imitate the look of recently washed and well-hydrated hands,” adds Aude. It is a refined style with a juicy and ultra-natural finish.
