Spain's lesser-known routes and walks to see almond trees in bloom: a perfect spring getaway

Posted on 2 April 2026

Seeing the blooming of almond trees has become a rite of passage to welcome spring. This custom, imported from Japan and its cherry blossom trees, has been adapted to Spain and our pink almond trees. Not in vain, Spain has some of the best pink blooms in the world and these are the six most impressive and beautiful.

Binissalem, Mallorca

The rural road that goes from Binissalem to the village of Biniagual is quiet and perfect for exploring on foot or by bike. That area is full of vineyards, but it also has many almond trees that bloom at this time of year and turn the entire landscape of this wine region pink.

The Costa Blanca also has its own flowering of almond trees, turning the Alicante mountains of the Pop Valley, also known as the Jalón Valley, pink. In the small town of Alcalalí, in the center of this valley, an antique market and easy, guided routes surrounded by almond trees through the Alcalalí Ecopark are organized.

Cieza, Murcia

Murcia has the most spectacular flowering on the peninsula, because the almond trees mix with peach trees, apricot trees and many more fruit trees, filling the landscape with colors. In fact, they have organized routes until March 19, for between 10-20 euros, to discover these landscapes and have a picnic in this idyllic environment.

Garrovillas de Alconétar, Cáceres

This little town in Extremadura is very little known, but it has one of the most beautiful hiking routes through fields of almond blossoms in Spain. There is a longer option and a shorter one, but it is worth dedicating the day to a getaway in nature and doing the long one: about nine kilometers along almond tree paths with little slope and pasture landscapes. It's a spectacle.

Santiago del Teide (Tenerife)

The most unexpected landscape of almond trees in bloom is in the Canary Islands, where the Chinyero volcano is surrounded by a carpet of almond trees on volcanic terrain, making the color of these flowers stand out even more. You can discover it by hiking from Santiago del Teide to Arguayo, about nine kilometers of idyllic pink landscapes.

This park is a Madrid classic, with more than 1,500 almond trees in the heart of the city. La Quinta de los Molinos turns the Canillejas district into the epicenter of outdoor plans during the month of March, in the middle of a landscape declared a Site of Cultural Interest since 2025.
