The Best-Kept Secret of Los Serrano: The Fake Friendship Between Fran Perea and Alejo Sauras

Posted on 29 October 2025

‘Los Serrano’ was the series that marked the childhood of many, but also the career of Fran Perea. Hence, every time the actor and musician sits down for an interview, it is impossible not to dwell on that production that catapulted him to fame. In his appearance on the podcast ‘La escalera roja’ there were no exceptions, in fact, we were surprised by some details during the filming of it that to date we had not known, especially about his co-star: Alejo Sauras.

Fran Perea played Marcos Serrano and Alejo Sauras played Raúl Martínez, two best friends and inseparable companions at the iconic Santa Justa high school. Off-screen they seemed like glue and bone, but it turns out they were acting, in every sense, because that friendship only materialized when the lights came on and they shouted in “action” on the set. The reality was different and it turns out that both maintained a very distant relationship, strictly professional

In the interview on ‘La escalera Roja’, when asked who he got along with worst during the filming of ‘Los Serrano’, Fran Perea didn’t hesitate and answered firmly: ‘Alejo’. In an instant, he changed the subject. He also spoke with total transparency about the money he received for the series, asserting that per episode he pocketed between 10,000 and 12,000 euros. A total per season of between 60,000 and 70,000 euros.

All that work in front of the cameras was added to his facet as an artist on the stages, with national tours and a frenetic pace due to the fame of the moment that was very difficult to sustain, hence his departure from the series. Now he continues combining his two passions and beyond the artistic plane he enjoys a family life with Luz Valdenebro, who has been his partner since 2009 and with whom he walked down the aisle in May 2023.
