Their love story began when they met at a gala in 2005; a year later they were engaged and they married in Sydney in 2006: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s love was meteoric and has ended almost 20 years later.
According to Variety, one of Australia’s most talented (and wealthiest) couples would have ended their marriage, keeping the reasons for this separation private.
The couple had overcome critical moments in the early years of their relationship, when Nicole Kidman urged her then-husband to enter rehabilitation due to his problems with alcohol. Later, Urban stated that Kidman’s support had been a crucial pillar in his recovery.
From these past 19 years of their relationship come their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, aged 17 and 14.
The Successful Careers of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
To say Kidman’s Hollywood career has been successful would be an understatement, because she has done it all: she was the icon of an entire generation in her role as Satine in the musical ‘Moulin Rouge!’ under the direction of the great Baz Luhrmann, shared the screen with her then-husband (with whom she also had two daughters) Tom Cruise in ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, the final film by Stanley Kubrick, tested new styles and registers with Lars von Trier, the leading figure of the Dogma 95 movement in ‘Dogville’, won an Oscar for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in ‘The Hours’ and was proclaimed by Forbes as the best-paid Australian actress in 2024. In addition to many other awards and recognitions from the industry, and being much loved by the public, especially the Spanish-speaking audience after starring in ‘The Others’, by Alejandro Amenábar.
For her part, Keith Urban has also triumphed professionally: he is an internationally recognized country singer (surely you’ve heard his arch-famous hit ‘Somebody Like You’), with 14 albums to his credit and a Grammy Award awarded in 2006, the same year as his wedding to Kidman, for his song ‘‘You’ll Think of Me’.
