A weekend getaway has become one of the perfect plans to escape the big city and disconnect for a couple of days from the bustle and haste. For this we always look for towns that aren’t especially far from the capital, ideal for a two-day escape or even for an express excursion. Supúlveda is undoubtedly our new favorite spot, a village with a medieval aesthetic and a lot of charm less than an hour and a half by car from Madrid. What’s the best? It features an idyllic route that ends at the Fuente de la Salud.
This spring we are talking about is worth visiting if you pass through Segovia, and indeed its crystal-clear waters are incomparable. Its name, in fact, is not put by chance because tradition holds that its water would have healthful properties. Undoubtedly, ending a route at this idyllic place is more than enough motivation to get some exercise on a Sunday morning.
The route is 3.1 kilometers long and you can start it from the center of Supúlveda, walking to reach the natural pool on the banks of the Duratón River. The rest is simply enjoying the views and that small waterfall that spills over the crystal-clear waters of the place. And this spot, in summer, is a jewel for enjoying a swim surrounded by nature, although you can also do other outdoor activities. In fact, it has rest areas with picnic benches that include tables and benches ideal for a picnic.

Supúlveda
You can take advantage of your visit to the fountain to take a stroll through the historic center of Supúlveda and wander its cobbled streets, as well as see its famous castle and its walls, in addition to its three churches: the one of San Bartolomé, El Salvador and the Saints Justo and Pastor. You can also visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peña and the medieval squares. Of course, do not forget its gastronomic side and take note of its star dish: the roast suckling lamb. We recommend trying it at a restaurant specialized in Castilian cuisine such as El Señorío de Supúlveda, a roaster that you will surely want to return to.
